2010 Throne Speech will not bring Ontario back to number one
NEWS:
(Queen’s Park) – Instead of using the 2010 Speech from the Throne to bring Ontario back to number one Dalton McGuinty choose a “same-old-same-old” approach ensuring Ontario will remain burdened with slow economic growth, high taxes and irresponsible spending.
The 2010 Throne Speech follows previous Throne Speeches, election platforms and budgets that have been riddled with broken promises and that have contributed to Ontario’s economic decline.
Of equal concern, Dalton McGuinty has increased spending by 65% and has created giant slush funds with scandals such as the eHealth boondoggle. Yet, the 2010 Throne Speech fails to ensure that Ontarians’ tax dollars will be spent more responsibly and efficiently.
QUOTES:
“The other nine provinces are living with the same economic recession. Why is Ontario at the bottom of the heap when it comes to growth, job creation and all other economic indicators? Could it be the high taxes and bureaucratic red tape?”
— Ted Chudleigh, MPP Halton & PC Critic to the Attorney General
“Ontario can, should, and must lead again – but to do so, we must turn the page on the broken promises and failed policies of the past. The Ontario PC Caucus will continue to stand up for the seniors, families and small businesses who are paying more but getting less under the Liberal government. We will continue to advocate responsible, practical and affordable ideas to get our province growing – so that Ontario can lead again.
